While there is practically no archaeological or even written records to prove that Kali the early form of Eskrima was pre-Hispanic (read Origins of Eskrima)- one irrefutable fact stands out: the warrior spirit of our intrepid ancestors is deeply ingrained in the genetic code of the Visayan people. The Visayans particularly the Cebuanos have produced more world boxing champions than any other Asian ethnic group. To name a few are the legendary junior lightweight Gabriel "Flash" Elorde, Pancho Villa, Bernabe Villacampo, Ben Villaflor, Rene Barrientos, Frank Cedeno, Rolando Navarrete, Samuel Duran, Pedro Adigue, Dodie Boy Penalosa and current reigning champions Jerry Penalosa, Manny Pacquiao and Joma Gamboa. Topping the list of great Visayan Eskrimadors are the names of Grandmasters like: Floro Villabrille, Regino Ilustrisimo, Juanito Lacoste, Felicisimo Dizon, Cacoy Canete, Anciong Bacon, Jose D. Caballero, Antonio Ilustrisimo, Angel Cabales, Leo Gaje, Col. Timoteo Maranga, Johnny Chiuten, Filemon Caburnay,Arnulfo Mongcal, Atty. Villasin, etc.
The CES's bold mission is to propagate and promote all indigenous Visayan Martial Arts of varying styles. It is not part of our mission to unify the various methods or systems but to find a common ground that we can nurture in order to stimulate enthusiasm of the Visayan Martial Arts and culture for future generations to inherit. It is only through our Martial Arts that we can find a distinct cultural identity, not our Christian traditions or Arroz Valenciana or Kinilaw or Otap or Paltik pistols.

Welcome to the World of Kali Silat. Bringing people together through these arts and sciences we call Kali Silat. Downloads of material from early practices and recent practices, "Sharing is the only way to feed all the children of this world." It works, because we both grow for the time and effort we put in to, 'make it your own'.
